Special Services
Saint Lawrence Academy is committed to meeting the academic, spiritual, and extracurricular//social needs of each and every student. Through a varied and comprehensive student services program, the school meets the needs of students in both formal and informal settings. The breadth of student services runs the gamut from a student bookstore to a four-year mentoring program. The following programs aid in the development and enrichment of each student on the Saint Lawrence Academy campus.
LUNCH PROGRAM
The Pasta Market is the school food service provider for Saint Lawrence Education Center. With an on-campus kitchen, students have the opportunity to purchase fresh, recently prepared snacks and lunch on a daily basis. The Lunch Program has an on-line service for putting money on a student’s account or students may bring money on a daily basis. Each student has the opportunity to select a pre-set lunch or to make individual choices for themselves; there are no set food purchase requirements.

MENTORING PROGRAM
The Saint Lawrence Academy Mentoring Program is entering its seventh year. The program assigns each faculty member a group of approximately fifteen students with whom they meet bi-weekly. Mentoring provides students with a place to voice their opinions and concerns; it also allows the mentoring staff member to receive student input outside of a classroom setting. The mentoring groups create a community in which to discuss and plan class business. In addition to class business, faculty members help students monitor grades, achieve goals, find college information and scholarships, assist with tutoring and study skills and serve as a resource for both students and parents. The mentoring program allows for students to get whatever individual attention they need to attain success.
Some of the topics covered in mentoring include:
- Study Skills
- How to get involved in Saint Lawrence Academy activities
- College planning
- PSAT testing
- PLAN testing
- Organizational skills
- Grade checks
- Yearly school survey
- Technology updates
- Class business

PEER TUTORS
For those students who would like the academic help of a fellow student, peer tutors are available. Whether a student needs help in a specific subject or some general organizational help, peer tutors may be the answer. Peer tutors are generally upperclassmen who have academic strength in a particular subject area. Tutoring sessions take place on campus before school, after school, or at lunch.
